Many of you have signed up for the FALL 2025 cohort offerings. If you are at all on the fence, I would encourage you to sign up here. TKC believes in dynamic learning. I remember feeling like 9th grade grammar was nothing short of torture. I so dreaded that class and today I love to joke about it. It may have been one of the most influential life processes I have experienced. Perhaps there was a sense of work, or investment that would be gleaned later in life, I often am thankful that I simply learned correct grammar. Or maybe it was the feeling that when we are sometimes challenged or perhaps even forced to do something, we might experience a gift that we wouldn’t have otherwise gained. In this case for me, it gave me a foundational base for what would be become one of my deepest longings, the interpretation of Hebrew as it is viewed within the lens of Scripture. It would have been nearly impossible to understand Hebrew grammar without first understanding English grammar. I also find myself smiling years later as I would marry an incredible woman that, yes, you guessed it, teaches 9th grade grammar! Oh, is that God’s sense of humor? But I find myself recalling everything I learned and loving these conversations with her about the nuances of her teachings. We have both laughed and cried over these dynamics.
The truth is we can never really understand all the things that God may be doing through a blank canvas of our hearts. When I think about the incredible array of passion that would later come from a simple experience of ninth grade grammar I have to sit back and gently smile to the heavens.

I am reminded of a student I took on years ago who didn’t want to join seminary because he strongly disliked academic writing, but knew he needed a better grasp on Scripture. As he was shepherded from one class to another, he slowly started to develop a love for things he couldn’t see before. By the end of his seminary experience he found a love for academic writing and discussion and to this day would call it the love of his life. But even more amazing is the incredible kingdom fruit that has come from it. He has influenced tens of thousands towards better theological views. You just never know the dynamics of the unseen realm and what God might have in design for you through something you never had eyes for.
Today my prayer is that you might make decisions that enable the LORD to stretch you beyond your expectations. TKC has decided to leave the success of the class to be determined by the student. You probably won’t take a traditional test in your time with us, and something tells me you won’t miss that! You will be encouraged to write academically more than once, but also be challenged to make a YouTube video, record a teaching or two, and explore some other components that you never imagined or saw yourself doing. By perhaps “forcing yourself” to read and listen to the best shepherds in the world you will find yourself (and those who you exchange with) profoundly impacted. Jesus’s call to action through this sort of deeper devotion is dynamic and far reaching. We believe that the potential is great and more than what you ever had in mind for yourself.
I pray that today you will decide to engage into the rich, layered narratives of the Bible drawing every experience and interaction towards an opportunity for growth and fulfillment of His divine purpose in your life and ministry. This very well could be the year you look back at as the year that “everything changed for you.” That is our prayer.
